Cory began studying percussion at the age of 10 in his elementary school concert band program in San Diego, CA. In middle school not only did he begin to learn and perform drum set in styles such as jazz, Latin and rock, he competed in indoor drumline competitions as a bass drummer and center snare. In high school he continued studying drum set, tenor drums, snare drum and added ukulele, piano and guitar as he found great joy in learning multiple instruments. He attended Arizona State University where he earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music Therapy while studying percussion including West African Malinke Drumming Djembe and Dunun, Steel Pan, Mexican Marimba and Serbian Čoček/Kolo. He has performed and recorded in multiple ensembles mainly as a drummer, but also as a bassist, singer, keyboardist and guitarist. He has performed in venues from bars to stadiums such as the Del Mar Fair, House of Blues San Diego, Music Box, Soda Bar, Tower Bar, The Holding Company, Tin Roof, Qualcomm Stadium and The Kia Forum. He has had the opportunity to open for artists including Kenny G., Red Jumpsuit Apparatus and Maná. After graduating from college he became a Board Certified Music Therapist working in Hospitals VA, general and pediatric, Rehabilitation Facilities Traumatic Brain Injury, Drug and Alcohol, Nursing Homes and a variety of Neurodiverse programs special education classrooms, adult day care facilities and after school programs. His goal is to empower you by giving you the tools you need to reach your musical goals learn, write, record and perform in a fun and engaging way so you maintain your unique sound and develop into the musician you hope to become.
